Mexican President Denounces Arizona Law Despite Laws Against Illegal Immigration in His Own Country

(CNSNews.com) – At a joint press conference in the White House Rose Garden on Wednesday, President Barack Obama and Mexican President Felipe Calderon criticized Arizona’s new law against illegal immigration.

Calderon, through a translator, called the law “discriminatory,” while Obama said the wording of the law was “troublesome” and could lead to innocent people being “harassed or arrested.”

“I think the Arizona law has the potential of being applied in a discriminatory fashion,” Obama said. He said a “fair reading of the language of the statute” raises the possibility that individuals suspected of being in the country illegally could be “harassed or arrested.”

Calderon said while he remains “respectful of the internal policies of the United States,” he firmly rejects criminalizing “migration” so that “people who work and provide things for this nation (USA) will be treated as criminals.”

In Calderon’s Mexico, however, illegal immigration is punished with fines and deportations.

“I know that we share the interest in promoting dignified, legal and orderly living conditions to all migrant workers,” Calderon said through a translator in his prepared remarks. “Many of them, despite their significant contribution to the economy and to the society of the United States, still live in the shadows, and occasionally, as in Arizona, they even face discrimination.”

Obama -- who only took two questions, both from foreign journalists -- said he has asked the Justice Department to look into the Arizona law. Last week, Attorney General Eric Holder told the House Judiciary Committee he had not read the law that Obama and members of his administration have denounced since it was signed by Arizona governor Jan Brewer on April 23.

The two leaders’ criticism comes despite revisions to the Arizona law that expressly prohibit police from racial profiling.

The revised Arizona law specifically states that a person’s immigration status can be checked only if an individual is stopped for some other, valid reason. “A lawful stop, detention or arrest must be in the enforcement of any other law or ordinance of a county, city or town or this state,” the revised law says.

By contrast, Mexican immigration law, revised in 2009, gives Mexican officials the right to check people’s immigration status, and if someone is found to be in the country illegally, they can be fined and deported. The law also requires foreigners to register with the government.

'We send them back'

Wednesday afternoon, after appearing at the White House with President Obama, Calderon appeared on CNN's "The Situation Room" with Wolf Blitzer, where he made the point that illegal immigration is no longer a crime in Mexico, under the 2009 revisions.

“So if people want to come from Guatemala or Honduras or El Salvador or Nicaragua, they want to just come into Mexico, they can just walk in?,” Blitzer asked.

“No,” Calderon said. They need to fill out a form and undergo a criminal background check, he said.

“Do Mexican police go around asking for papers of people they suspect are illegal immigrants?” Blitzer asked.

“Of course. Of course, in the border, we are asking the people, who are you?” Calderon replied.

Once foreigners are legally admitted to the country, “what the Mexican police do is, of course, enforce the law,” Calderon said.

Can people who sneak into Mexico from Central America, for example, get a job? Blitzer asked.

No, no, Calderon replied. “If – if somebody do that without permission, we send back -- we send back them.”

“You find them and you send them back?” Blitzer asked.

“Yes,” Calderon confirmed. He admitted that Americans have a “very powerful argument” when they say that Arizona and other border states are only trying to do what Mexico itself does with illegal immigrants – find them and send them back.

'Mexicans interfering'

Rep. Lamar Smith (R-Texas), the ranking member on the House Judiciary Committee, sent a letter to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton -- who hosted Calderon for lunch at the State Department following the Rose Garden press conference – objecting to Calderon pressuring the U.S. about its immigration laws and policies.

“In their advocacy efforts on behalf of Mexican citizens living in the United States, President Calderon and other officials of the Mexican government have crossed the line and are interfering in the internal affairs of the United States,” Smith said in a statement on Wednesday.

“It is well recognized in international law that immigration controls are an internal matter, and not subject to international scrutiny,” Smith said. “Yet, President Calderon has opposed the recently enacted Arizona immigration law, which in fact mirrors federal law.

“Mexican government officials openly talk of a Mexican government boycott of Arizona, but make no effort to prevent their citizens from going there,” Smith said. “American public officials have the right and the responsibility to implement an immigration policy that is in the best interests of the American people.”

According to a White House press release, Obama and Calderon discussed “enhancing mutual economic growth” through the implementation of new, secure border crossings; “clean energy” and the fight against “global warming”; and combating “transnational organized crime.”

Under the heading “Enhancing Social Well Being and Ties Between Our People,” the press release states that Mexicans are needed to fill jobs in the United States.

“Both acknowledged the importance of fixing the broken immigration system, securing the common border and dismantling human trafficking groups, and to set clear rules and priorities for future immigration that level the playing field for American workers while providing a mechanism to fill labor demand in the United States in excess of domestic capacity,” the press release states.

The latest U.S. unemployment rate stands at 9.9 percent, according to the latest figure of the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Since 2006, the officers have been stationed at more than 160 airports across the US in order to provide a hidden measure of security.

But 16 people accused of being part of terrorist plots have passed through US airports undetected a total of 23 times since 2004 - a number of them since the scheme was started - according to an investigation by the Government Accountability Office.

Earlier this year, officials at the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), which runs the behaviour detection programme, asked US Congress to expand the scheme, which is known as Spot - Screening Passengers by Observation Techniques.

John Mica, a Republican congressman from Florida who was involved in setting up the TSA in response to the Sept 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, said it had become too bureaucratic.

He said the report into behaviour detection would further call into question the agency's ability to perform its security mission.

The TSA said the programme is a "vital layer of security based in science", which has led to more than 1,700 arrests for other crimes like drug smuggling.

However, a 2008 report by a team at the National Academy of Sciences said "behavioural surveillance" had "enormous potential for violating privacy" and there was no evidence it worked.

The report said a person behaving oddly could just as easily be planning an extramarital affair as a terrorist attack.

Stephen Fienberg, a professor at Carnegie Mellon University, described the programme as a "sham". By 2008, around 160,000 people had been selected to be interviewed or given further pat downs based on the behaviour detection technique but less than one per cent of those were arrested.

Charles Slepian, and aviation security analyst, said the failure of the programme to catch a terrorist was a "disgrace." He told CBS News: "If it worked, you would catch them."

Almost nine years after terrorists murdered 2,751 people on Sept. 11, 2001, the U.S. is still facing a major threat as hundreds of illegal aliens from countries known to support and sponsor terrorism sneak across the U.S.-Mexico border.

'Special-interest countries' and 'sponsors of terror'

Thousands of illegal aliens apprehended along the 2,000 mile border stretching through California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas aren't even from Mexico. The U.S. Border Patrol calls them "Other Than Mexicans," or OTMs, and many are citizens of countries that are sponsors of terrorism.

A 2006 congressional report on border threats, titled "A Line in the Sand: Confronting the Threat at the Southwest Border" and prepared by the House Committee on Homeland Security Subcommittee on Investigations, indicated that 1.2 million illegal aliens were apprehended in 2005 alone, and 165,000 of those were from countries other than Mexico. Approximately 650 were from "special interest countries," or nations the Border Patrol defines as "designated by the intelligence community as countries that could export individuals that could bring harm to our country in the way of terrorism."

Atlanta's WSB-TV2 aired a segment on U.S. border security after it obtained records from a federal detention center near Phoenix, Ariz., and found current listings for illegal aliens from Afghanistan, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Sudan and Yemen.

"We have left the back door to the United States open," former Rep. J.D. Hayworth told the station. "We have to understand that there are definitely people who mean to do us harm who have crossed that border."

WSB-TV 2 published a population breakdown from an Immigration and Customs Enforcement staging facility in Florence, Ariz., dated April 15, 2010, which includes detainees from as far away as Afghanistan, Armenia, Bosnia, Egypt, Ghana, Iraq, Iran, Jordan, Kenya, Morocco, Pakistan, Sudan, Uzbekistan, Yemen, Botswana, Turkey and many other countries.

Based on U.S. Border Patrol statistics, there were 30,147 OTMs apprehended in fiscal year 2003; 44, 614 in fiscal year 2004; 165,178 in fiscal year 2005; and 108,025 in fiscal year 2006. Most were caught along the U.S. Southwest border.

According to the Department of Homeland Security's 2008 Yearbook of Immigration Studies, from the Office of Immigration Statistics, federal law enforcement agencies detained 791,568 deportable aliens in fiscal year 2008 – and 5,506 of them were from 14 "special-interest countries."

The State Department lists the following as "special-interest countries": Afghanistan, Algeria, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Nigeria, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Somalia and Yemen.

The following "special-interest countries" are listed as sponsors of terror: Cuba, Sudan, Syria and Iran.

The aliens were apprehended "at the borders of the United States, in the interior of the country and at designated sites outside of the United States." The 2008 yearbook lists 791,568 deportable aliens by country (Page 97). Some include:

According to the Government Accountability Office, "The Border Patrol reported that in fiscal year 2008, checkpoints encountered 530 aliens from special-interest countries."

'Ever-present threat of terrorist infiltration'

Warning of an "ever-present threat of terrorist infiltration over the Southwest border," the congressional report notes:

• U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement investigations have revealed that aliens were smuggled from the Middle East to staging areas in Central and South America, before being smuggled illegally into the United States.

• Members of Hezbollah have already entered the United States across the Southwest border.

• U.S. military and intelligence officials believe that Venezuela is emerging as a potential hub of terrorism in the Western Hemisphere. The Venezuelan government is issuing identity documents that could subsequently be used to obtain a U.S. visa and enter the country.

The Texas border – specifically the McAllen area – outpaces the rest of the nation in OTMs and aliens from "special-interest countries."

From Sept. 11, 2001, to 2006, the Department of Homeland Security reported a 41 percent increase in arrests along the Texas/Mexico border of "special-interest aliens" – including aliens from Iran, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Pakistan, Cuba, Brazil, Ecuador, China, Russia, Yemen, Albania, Yugoslavia and Afghanistan – all apprehended in the South Texas region alone.

U.S. immigration authorities have discovered items along the banks of the Rio Grande River that suggest ties to terrorist organizations. In 2006, Sheriff Sigifredo Gonzalez of Zapata County, Texas, reported that officials found Iranian currency in the same area.

Also, a jacket found in Jim Hogg County, Texas, was covered in patches from countries where al-Qaida is known to operate. The patches include an Arabic military badge and one that illustrates an airplane flying into a tower. Another one features a depiction of a lion's head with wings and a parachute. The Arab insignia reads "martyr," "way to eternal life" or "way to immortality."

'One way or another, they're all connected'

"Islamic radical groups that support Hamas, Hezbollah and Islamiya Al Gamat are all active in Latin America," the 2006 congressional report states. "These groups generate funds through money laundering, drug trafficking and arms deals, making millions of dollars every year via their multiple illicit activities. These cells reach back to the Middle East and extend to this hemisphere the sophisticates global support structure of international terrorism."

In May 2001, just months before the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, a former Mexican national security adviser and U.N. ambassador, Adolfo Aguilar Zinser, warned, "Spanish and Islamic terrorist groups are using Mexico as a refuge."

The 39-page report notes members of Hezbollah, the Lebanon-based terrorist organization, have already entered the U.S. by way of the Southwest border.

In 2002, authorities arrested Salim Boughader Mucharrafille, a café owner in Tijuana, Mexico, for smuggling more than 200 Lebanese people into the U.S., including several believed to have ties to Hezbollah.

Also, in March 2005, Mahmoud Youssef Kourani, an illegal alien who had been smuggled across the U.S.-Mexico border after bribing a Mexican consular official in Beirut for a visa, pleaded guilty to providing material support to Hezbollah. Kourani, brother of the Hezbollah chief of military operations in southern Lebanon, lived in Dearborn, Mich., while he solicited funds for Hezbollah terrorists.

Hezbollah relies on "the same criminal weapons smugglers, document traffickers and transportation experts as the drug cartels," Michael Braun, retired assistant administrator and chief of operations at the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, told the Washington Times last year. "They work together. They rely on the same shadow facilitators. One way or another, they are all connected. "

He added, "They'll leverage those relationships to their benefit, to smuggle contraband and humans into the U.S.; in fact, they already are [smuggling]."

In 2006, Colombia's acting attorney general, Jorge Armando Otalora, announced authorities had dismantled a ring that had been producing fake passports to help illegal aliens enter the United States. Colombian officials said the gang was tied to al-Qaida and Hamas militants and that it had supplied the false passports to citizens from Pakistan, Jordan, Iraq, Egypt and other countries. However, the U.S. Justice Department denied those allegations, saying the gang had connections to the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC. Justice Department spokesman Bryan Sierra said, "We are not alleging any connections to any terror organization other than the FARC."

As WND reported in 2007, President Bush's top intelligence aide confirmed that Iraqi terrorists were captured coming into the United States from Mexico.

Just this week, Houston's KHOU-TV 11 reported Homeland Security warned Houston, Texas, police and Harris County Sheriff's deputies that a suspected terrorist may be traveling through the U.S. through Mexico. Mohamed Ali is a suspected member of the terrorist group Al Shabaab, a group based in Somalia with ties to the Somali attacks portrayed in the movie "Blackhawk Down."

Only months ago, Al Shabaab announced its allegiance to al-Qaida and Osama bin Laden.

Likewise, the station reported, a federal indictment was filed in San Antonio against a Somali man two weeks ago. It alleges Ahmed Muhammed Dhakane led a "large-scale smuggling enterprise," moving east Africans into the U.S., including members of a terrorist group called AIAI. Dhakane is also suspected of recruiting people to help create a Taliban regime.

Shocking likelihood of terrorist infiltration

A 2009 academic study by the Society for Risk Analysis, titled "Analyzing the Homeland Security of the U.S.-Mexico Border," used a mathematical model to predict the likelihood of terrorist infiltration across the border with Mexico.

Two researcher from Stanford University and a third from George Mason University concluded that chances of OTM terrorists entering the U.S. across the southern border are quite high.

According to one calculation, based on assumptions about the extent of border screening and other aspects of domestic interior enforcement, the probability of an OTM terrorist crossing into the United States was 97.3 percent.

A 2005 Congressional Research Service report for Congress warned, "Terrorists and terrorist organizations could leverage these illicit networks to smuggle a person or weapon of mass destruction into the United States, while the large number of aliens attempting to enter the country illegally could potentially provide cover for the terrorists."

Aliens from the Middle East and other parts of the globe are said to travel to South America first, where they learn to speak Spanish. Then they continue up through Mexico and join other illegal aliens as they cross the border – mostly undetected.

According to the 2006 congressional report, federal law-enforcement agencies estimate that only 10 to 30 percent of illegal aliens are actually caught – meaning an estimated 70 to 90 percent enter the U.S. undetected.

"While many illegal aliens cross the border searching for employment, not all illegal aliens are crossing into the United States to find work," the report states. "Law enforcement has stated that some individuals come across the border because they have been forced to leave their home countries due to their criminal activity. These dangerous criminals are fleeing the law in other countries and seeking refuge in the United States."

Today, bloggers around the world will participate in a protest against terrorists by drawing cartoons of the Muslim prophet Mohammed. Everyone Draw Mohammed Day started when terrorist threats against Comedy Central pushed its executives to heavily censor an episode of South Park, which still cannot be seen on the South Park Studios website. It got off to an inauspicious start, though, when its creator backed out of the event, citing concerns about being overly provocative.

That’s a good point to consider, especially if one goal of the war on terror is to push an Enlightenment of sorts onto global Islam. A “hearts and minds” campaign, as we discovered in Vietnam, requires some sympathy and understanding of the entire community. If we’re insulting a broad class of Muslims by celebrating what appears to be a heresy in their eyes, we’re pushing them closer to the radicals and not isolating the terrorists. Given the images being celebrated on Facebook’s EDMD page, it won’t be too difficult to see this as an attack on their religion altogether.

On the other hand — and this is where my sympathies lie — a free society has to have the ability to offend as part and parcel of the freedom of expression. To acquiesce to the pressure that cowed Comedy Central is to surrender that freedom and to make terrorism a successful strategy, and not just for radical Islam. A nation of laws provides its citizens freedom from vendettas, and where vendettas succeed, freedom is diminished or lost altogether. That is why it is always un-American to seek political change through violence and terrorism, because it cuts against the fabric of what makes us Americans. In order to stand against the vendetta mentality, we need to make a statement that we will not be cowed into silence and surrender, whether that’s defined as dhimmitude, omerta, or whatever.

My good friend Chris Muir has what I believe may be the most thoughtful entry for EDMD. It’s a good theme for EDMD as a sort of Rohrshach test. What you read into it depends entirely on you. Is this Mohammed? A butterfly?

Follow up story on Ny Times Hit peace-Case Against Gun-Store Owner Dismissed

An Arizona court on Wednesday dismissed the case against a gun-store owner accused of looking the other way while front men purchased weapons to deliver to Mexico's drug cartels.

The trial, which began earlier this month, had been heralded as an example of U.S. authorities working to stanch the flow of weapons to Mexico, where a recent war among drug gangs is believed to have killed more than 6,000 people.

The case was dismissed against George Iknadosian, above, arrested on charges of knowingly selling guns to traffickers smuggling arms into Mexico.

At the heart of the case was the X-Caliber gun store, where prosecutors alleged more than 700 high-powered rifles were sold to purchasers whom the owner, 47-year-old George Iknadosian, should have known were acting as so-called straw buyers for Mexican customers. Sales of most weapons to non-U.S. citizens north of the border are severely constrained, as is gun possession by civilians in Mexico.

To get around those restrictions, Arizona officials alleged, Mr. Iknadosian allowed Arizonans with clean criminal records to buy weapons they would resell in Mexico, first by falsifying forms attesting that the firearms were for the purchasers' personal use. Witnesses in the case included several of these alleged straw buyers, who have pleaded guilty to charges that bring a penalty of up to 10 years imprisonment.

Yet in dismissing the 21 counts against Mr. Iknadosian, Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Robert Gottsfield ruled that the evidence prosecutors presented wasn't "material," and therefore didn't support charges against the defendant.

"The state's case is based upon testimony of individuals who [alleged]...that they were the actual purchaser of the firearms when they were not," Judge Gottsfield wrote. He then indicated that such testimony, by itself, failed to establish that any additional unlawful conduct transpired.

"There is no proof whatsoever that any prohibited possessor ended up with the firearm," the judge said.

To be considered "material," he explained, testimony about falsifying government forms must further demonstrate that the act "resulted in an unlawful person ending up with the guns, which has not been proven."

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, briefing reporters at the agency's Washington headquarters Wednesday, declined to comment on the ruling.

State and federal authorities, including a task force supervised by the Phoenix office of the U.S. Department of Justice's Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, worked for 11 months with local police building a case against X-Caliber. According to law-enforcement officials in Phoenix, the investigation included sending undercover agents posing as buyers to Mr. Iknadosian's shop, where agents not only purchased weapons, but boasted of plans to resell them in Mexico.

Authorities also relentlessly publicized the link between X-Caliber and Mexican drug cartels by claiming weapons purchased in Mr. Iknadosian's store had been recovered at Mexican crime scenes. One special weapon -- a handgun inlaid with $35,000 worth of diamonds -- purportedly was captured late last year after the assassination of a top Mexican policeman.

"We are all taking this pretty hard," said Anne Hilby, spokeswoman for Arizona Attorney General Terry Goddard. Mr. Goddard released a statement disagreeing with Judge Gottsfield's analysis of the case, adding, "We are reviewing the ruling to determine how best to respond."

Messages left for Mr. Iknadosian's attorney and at the defendant's home weren't returned.

The drug lords gun of choice is the AK-47???

The Mexican agents who moved in on a safe house full of drug dealers last May were not prepared for the fire power that greeted them.

When the shooting was over, eight agents were dead. Among the guns the police recovered was an assault rifle traced back across the border to a dingy gun store here called X-Caliber Guns.

Now, the owner, George Iknadosian, will go on trial on charges he sold hundreds of weapons, mostly AK-47 rifles, to smugglers, knowing they would send them to a drug cartel in the western state of Sinaloa. The guns helped fuel the gang warfare in which more than 6,000 Mexicans died last year.

Yesterday afternoon, FBI agents raided a Dearbornistan warehouse and other locations and arrested several Muslim men whom they say were an organized Islamic terrorist cell.

While you might applaud that, here’s the skinny that might make you think otherwise. It’s all about lazy and politically correct priorities coupled with easy convictions and lots of great publicity.

The men were mostly Black ex-con converts to Islam, who were not involved in terrorism per se, but in criminal activity, like receiving and selling stolen merchandise (including energy drinks), the profits of which–the feds say–were going to go to terrorist activity. I doubt they can prove that, and the men haven’t been charged with any terror-related stuff. The men are identified as Luqman Ameen Abdullah a/k/a Christopher Thomas, Mohammad Abdul Bassir a/k/a Franklin D. Roosevelt Williams, Muhammad Abdul Salaam a/k/a Muhammad Addul Salaam a/k/a Gregory Stone a/k/a Gun Man a/k/a Norman Shields, Abdul Saboor a/k/a Dwayne Edward Davis, Mujahid Carswell a/k/a Mujahid Abdullah, Abdullah Beard a/k/a Detric Lamont Driver, Mohammad Phlistine a/k/a Mohammad Palestine a/k/a Mohammad Al-Sahli, Yassir Ali Khan, Adam Hussain Ibraheem, Gary Laverne Porter a/k/a Mujahid, and Ali Abdul Raqib.

Yes, the men (some of whom are still on the run) are dangerous (the head guy, Imam Luqman Ameen Abdullah, drew his gun and was shot and killed). And they should have been arrested. But, to be clear, in no way do I believe they were even an iota of the threat that the mostly non-Black Arab Muslims throughout Dearborn are. Not even close. And if you read the 45-page federal criminal complaint, it’s kind of weak in terms of evidence of an actual, specific terror plot. The Detroit Terror Cell case was infinitely much stronger than this. And the same Justice Department and U.S. Attorney’s Office got the guilty verdict in that case overturned, indicted the prosecutor (Rick Convertino, who beat the scurrilous charges), and helped the terrorists stay in the U.S. and become citizens.

Sadly, this has been a repeated pattern throughout the country. The FBI uses informants to recruit Black (and other) Muslim converts to discuss planning a terrorist attack because they’re too lazy and too politically correct to go after the far more serious threat of Muslim Arabs who are already engaging in this activity, without prompting or entrapment from an outside FBI impetus.

In this case, it was a little different because the men were already led by a radical imam (redundant phrase) who’d served jail time and advocated “violent jihad” in his sermons, as well as killing federal agents and local law enforcement. And parts of the criminal complaint are confirmation of exactly what we’ve been saying–the imam (Luqman Ameen Abdullah) of the mosque (Masjid Al-Haqq) encouraged the shooting of cops, and he beat kids until they were covered in bruises.

Also interesting is the fact that the men arrested, yesterday, were part of an Islamic group, the Ummah (”Nation” in Arabic), led by Imam Jamil Abdullah Al-Amin a/k/a H. Rap Brown. For over a decade, I’ve followed and written about Brown–a convicted cop killer and former ’60s radical and Black Panther party official. What’s significant is that he was running this radical, terror-inclined Islamic sect from the federal Supermax facility in Colorado. It’s not the first time I’ve detailed Islamic terrorists running terror plots and recruitment from Supermax. In fact, it’s at least the third time. Can’t wait ’til the Gitmo guys get there and do it, too.

It’s significant that Brown/Al-Amin was an activist in CAIR and a cause celebre for the organization. One of my Islamic clients, a former FBI informant, bought a CAIR-produced “Free Imam Jamil” pin at a CAIR event. And, yes, CAIR is mentioned in the federal complaint against these guys. Apparently, under surveillance, the ringleader, Imam Luqman, says he got CAIR and Al-Jazeera literature on Brown/Al-Amin, and it has incited him to do violence. Predictably, CAIR-Michigan chief Dawud Walid a/k/a Delano Anthony Willis, Jr.–himself a jailhouse convert to Islam–defended Luqman as a “very respectable imam.” Whatchoo talkin’ bout Willis?

From the Affidavit of FBI Special Agent Gary Leone, one of the lead agents on the case:

In a deposition given under oath in December 2007, S-1 [DS: the FBI's confidential informant] testified that on many occasions, he has heard Luqman Abdullah advocate the spread of Islam through violent jihad, and violence against the United States government and against law enforcement. Although Abdullah knows that many of his followers are felons who converted to Islam while they were in prison, he encourages them to be armed at all times in preparation for a confrontation with law enforcement. S-1 saw and participated in extensive and regular firearms and marial arts training inside the Masjid Al-Haqq. S-1 saw Luqman Abdullah discipline children inside the mosque by beating them with sticks on their hands, knees, and legs, until they were covered with bruises including a boy Abdullah beat so badly with sticks that he was unable to walk for several days. . . .

S-1 testified that on many occasions, he heard Luqman Abdullah preach that Islam should be spread through violent jihad, and advocate violence against the government and against law enforcement. Abdullah told his followers that if the police try to take his weapons or try to apprehend him, he will respond with violence, and they will have to shoot him before they can arrest him [DS: Hey, he got his wish and is now dead.]. When he was a loyal follower of Abdullah, S-1 would repeatedly listen to a tape recording of Abdullah giving a Khutba (sermon) in 2004 and yelling, “Police, so what?” Police die too! Fed die too!” and “Do not carry a pistol if you’re going to give it up to police. You give them a bullet” rather than surrendering your weapons. S-1 heard Abdullah encourage his followers to “pick up guns and do something” rather than try to achieve their goals through peaceful means. Abdullah often referred to law enforcement officers as “the Kafir [DS: extremely derogatory Islamic term for non-Muslims] dogs.” . . . .

From quoted portions of secretly recorded statements by Imam Luqman Abdullah:

I got some, I got some violence [in me] because of what they did to Imam Jamil [Al-Amin] . . . Revenge is Islamic . . . . You got to get mad about it. . . . They send me all of this stuff [DS: video clips appearing on Al-Jazeera]. . . . CAIR and everybody send me all of this stuff. I get sick. I can’t watch. . . . What would happen if that, I’m just dwlling on that? . . . I got some soldiers with me . . . . Brothers that I know would, you know, if I say, “Let’s go, we going to go and do something,” they would do it.

Still, as someone who knows intimately what’s going on in Dearbornistan, I can tell you that the FBI and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) regularly look the other way on terrorist plots and money laundering far larger and much more dangerous than what was going on in this case. Some of the cases have been those my clients and allies have reported to Famous But Incompetent and ICE (which should be called LICE, since they seem to prefer deporting mostly Latinos–because, hey, it was Juan Atta-ez who was the ringleader of the 9/11 hijackings, right?). The investigations and evidence were solid and they were large scale, and the crimes still go on because the FBI and LICE in Detroit look the other way, as they break pita at Ahmed’s Falafel Hut with open supporters of Hezbollah and HAMAS.

Some are cases which agents, themselves, have told me about–either to consult me or out of frustration that they’ve been blocked. . . like the Shi’ite Muslim money-laundering ring that sends more than $2 million a month overseas to Kuwait for an ultimate destination of various Islamic terrorist groups in the Mid-East. Both the FBI and ICE raided several Arab Muslim agencies and charities in Dearborn and around the Detroit area. And not one of those organizations (but for two tiny one-man shops, which sent chump change to the Mid-East) has ever been charged with a crime or shut down, despite the fact that they fund Hezbollah, HAMAS, and Al-Qaeda, and continue to engage in Medicaid fraud on our soil for the purpose of incidental birthright U.S. citizenship.

These arrests make the real, far more dangerous supporters of Islamic terrorism in the Detroit area happy. They get to see the abeed (”slaves,” their derogatory term for Blacks) arrested, and they get to sit pretty and continue to their regular Hezbollah funding meetings at Hamido and Adonis restaurants. In fact, federal agents called their best buddy, “former” Islamic terrorist, marriage/immigration fraud perpetrator, and FBI award revokee Imad Hamad, and alerted him to the raids. They gave him a copy of the 45-page complaint before any other member of the public. He’s their preferred terrorist. It’s far easier to get the Black people who don’t have the fundraising network to hire good lawyers, the way the Arab Islamic community in Dearborn does.

I’m glad the FBI raided and arrested these guys, but the fact is, they’re chump change and far less a threat than the organized, White Arabic Muslim community here (particular the Shi’ites). These men simply shouldn’t have been a priority. And though the feds and mainstream media are claiming these guys were going to perpetrate a terror attack on the 2006 Superbowl in Detroit, the criminal complaint and affidavit by Agent Leone says otherwise. It quotes Imam Abdullah saying he was asked to attack the Superbowl but declined because it would kill a lot of innocent people for nothing. That’s hardly a, “Wow, they were going to attack the Super Bowl.” Uh, no, they weren’t. So before you give the FBI a pat on the back, ask the FBI Michistan’s chief human-shawarma-sucker, FBI Special Agent in Charge Andrew Arena, why he’s hanging out with terrorist Imad Hamad’s daughters and looking the other way on multi-million dollar Hezbollah and HAMAS rings in his jurisdiction.

Oh, and ask him why he won’t say that Hezbollah is a bad organization and that it deserves to be on the terrorist list, instead only saying he doesn’t make the law? 300 U.S. Marines, Embassy officials, and other such American victims of Hezbollah–like Navy Diver Robert Stethem, Col. Rich Higgins, and CIA attache William Buckley–are spinning in their graves. The FBI is looking the other way on the vast Detroit-area network of their killers, and going for the easy headlines and quick convictions of a bunch of Black guys selling stolen power drinks.

Don’t let Miss Hezbollah USA, er . . .“Miss USA” Rima Fakih’s experience, as a pole dancing stripper, fool you. As I’ve noted before, her slutty behavior doesn’t mean she’s any less supportive of or supported by Hezbollah and Shi’ite Muslims everywhere. Just like the 9/11 hijackers drank alcohol at the Pink Pony and gambled in Vegas–both no-nos in Islam–Muslims are allowed to engage in taqiyyah [deception of the infidels to further the cause of Islam/jihad]. One of the phony claims repeated throughout the media by gushing idiots eager to promote Fakih is the claim that she’s the first Arab-American and the first Lebanese-American Miss USA. Not that I think these things are important (if you have to constantly identify yourself as a hyphenated American, something’s wrong).

Does anyone do any fact checking at any of these media outlets? Apparently not because the claim is false. In fact, the first Arab-American Miss USA–and the first Lebanese-American Miss USA–was Julie Hayek, a classy Christian woman who didn’t writhe around stripper poles, stumble on her gown three times, and spew nonsense about birth control. Oh, and she put the American part before the Arab one, unlike Fakih.

But, hey, since she’s a Christian Arab, I guess she doesn’t count. After all, Christians don’t count in the Arab and Muslim worlds. And now, we’re embracing that baloney in forgetting Julie Hayek. Bush Memo from 2002 could complicate challenge of Arizona immigration law

In the legal battle over Arizona's new immigration law, an ironic subtext has emerged: whether a Bush-era legal opinion complicates a potential Obama administration lawsuit against Arizona.

The document, written in 2002 by the Justice Department's Office of Legal Counsel, concluded that state police officers have "inherent power" to arrest undocumented immigrants for violating federal law. It was issued by Jay S. Bybee, who also helped write controversial memos from the same era that sanctioned harsh interrogation of terrorism suspects.

The author of the Arizona law -- which has drawn strong opposition from top Obama administration officials -- has cited the authority granted in the 2002 memo as a basis for the legislation. The Obama administration has not withdrawn the memo, and some backers of the Arizona law said Monday that because it remains in place, a Justice Department lawsuit against Arizona would be awkward at best.

"The Justice Department's official position as of now is that local law enforcement has the inherent authority to enforce federal immigration law," said Robert Driscoll, a former Justice Department Civil Rights Division official in the George W. Bush administration who represents an Arizona sheriff known for aggressive immigration enforcement. "How can you blame someone for exercising authority that the department says they have?"

The Arizona law, signed by Gov. Jan Brewer (R) last month, makes the "willful failure" to carry immigration documents a crime and empowers police to question anyone if authorities have a "reasonable suspicion" the person is an illegal immigrant. It has drawn words of condemnation from President Obama and intense opposition from civil rights groups, who on Monday filed what they said was the fifth federal lawsuit over the legislation.

Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. has said the department is considering a lawsuit against Arizona, and Civil Rights Division lawyers have been studying the law and consulting with some civil rights groups.

"The Civil Rights Division has been working around the clock," said one outside lawyer who has spoken to Justice Department officials. The lawyer spoke on the condition of anonymity because the contacts are not public. "They have a lot of attorneys on it, and they're taking a really hard look at filing their own lawsuit or intervening." Justice Department officials declined to comment Monday beyond saying they are continuing to review the government's legal options.

The 2002 opinion, known as the "inherent authority" memo, reversed a 1996 Office of Legal Counsel opinion from the Clinton administration. "This Office's 1996 advice that federal law precludes state police from arresting aliens on the basis of civil deportability was mistaken," says the 2002 memo, which was released publicly in redacted form in 2005 after civil rights groups sued to obtain it.

Office of Legal Counsel documents do not have the force of law but carry great weight within the executive branch and are considered to be the Justice Department's official position on a legal or constitutional issue.

Cecillia Wang, managing attorney of the ACLU Immigrants' Rights Project -- which filed Monday's lawsuit in federal court in Phoenix along with the NAACP, the National Immigration Law Center and other groups -- said the 2002 memo would not present an obstacle to a Justice Department lawsuit. She said the power that the Arizona law gives to police "goes far beyond" the basic arrest authority cited in the memo.

But Wang renewed the ACLU's call for the Obama Justice Department to withdraw the 2002 memo, which she called legally incorrect. "The fact that this memo is lurking out there gives cover and comfort to people in Arizona and other states who want to pass these overbroad and extraordinary anti-immigration measures," she said.

With all the focus on Greece and the European Union debt crisis, little attention has been given to what is most likely an even bigger time bomb – the emerging $600 trillion bubble in derivatives that will mostly likely burst as the debt crisis deepens, Jerome Corsi's Red Alert reports.

"Nor is it clear that President Obama, who took huge campaign contributions in 2008 from Wall Street, will be able to bring derivatives under federal regulations this year, even if the White House manages to get financial industry reform measures through Congress," Corsi wrote.

As interest rates begin to rise worldwide, Red Alert predicts losses in derivatives may end up bankrupting a wide range of institutions, including but not limited to municipalities and state governments around the globe, major insurance companies, top investment houses and commercial banks, as well as universities of all types, even those with the largest endowments.

"Defaults now beginning to occur in a number of European cities prefigure what may end up being the largest financial bubble in history ever to burst – a bubble that today amounts to more than $600 trillion," Corsi wrote.

The Bank of International Settlements in Basel, Switzerland, now estimates that derivatives, the complex bets financial institutions and sophisticated institutional investors make with one another on everything from commodities options to credit swaps, topped $604 trillion worldwide – or $0.68 quadrillion – at the end of June 2009.

• A quadrillion is the number 1 followed by 15 zeroes, as in: 1,000,000,000,000,000.

• To visualize a quadrillion, multiply 1 trillion by 1,000.

To illustrate the relative magnitude of derivative contracts globally, the CIA Factbook estimates the 2009 Gross Domestic Product, or GDP, of the world was just under $60 trillion.

Corsi explained, "In other words, derivative contracts have now reach a level 10 times world GDP, an amount so incomprehensibly great that even a 10 percent default in derivatives would equal world GDP."

Muslims in NYC Planning to Build Second, Smaller Mosque Near Ground Zero

s controversy surrounds the construction of a 13-story mosque just two blocks from Ground Zero, FOX News has learned that an effort to place a second mosque close to the hallowed site in New York City is in its advanced stages.

The Masjid Mosque has raised $8.5 million and is seeking an additional $2.5 million to begin construction. While it apparently has not settled on a final location, it has told donors it plans to build very close to where 3,000 people were killed in the September 11 terror attacks.

In fact, the website appealing for donations boldly states that it plans to “build the 'House of Allah' next to the World Trade Center. Help us raise the flag of 'LA ILLAH ILLA ALLAH' in downtown Manhattan."

One source said he believed the planners are considering a five-story building on 23 Park Place, closer to Ground Zero than the 13-story mosque the Cordoba Initiative is planning to build. But a tax record search shows that 23 Park Place is in private hands and has not changed owners since 2008.

Unlike the massive $100 million Cordoba House mosque, the Masjid Mosque is small – and it is no stranger to the neighborhood. Since 1970 it had been located at 12 Warren Street, about four blocks north of the World Trade Center, in a neat but nondescript industrial space that once housed a printing shop. It lost its lease in 2008 when the building was sold, and it was evicted from its second-floor prayer space on May 25 of that year. Since then it has been operating out a cramped basement space in a nearby building at 20 Warren Street.

On Friday evenings the mosque, which is popular with street vendors and taxi drivers, becomes so crowded that worshipers spill onto nearby sidewalks to pray in what has come to be a community event.

A press representative for Daisy Kahn, executive director of the Cordoba Initiative, said neither she nor anyone in her group had been aware of the Masjid’s efforts. “They have no connection to us,” she said. “We didn't even know they were there.”

Masjid mosque leaders claim on their website that they are deeply involved in converting people to Islam and run a special program to convert those who are interested.

Efforts to reach mosque leaders were not successful. Calls left with Naheem Mohammed, the mosque’s treasurer, were not returned. Calls to the mosque itself were not answered. And efforts to reach Abdullah El-Khory, the president of the mosque's board, were not successful.

Julie Menin, chairwoman of Community Board 1, also declined to return several calls. The board, which monitors and approves all development in the financial district surrounding Ground Zero and has been stung by criticism from the families of 9/11 victims, is permitted to assess the impact of building a mosque at the site.

The IAEA June 7 board meeting reportedly lists "Israeli nuclear capabilities" as the eighth agenda item. The item reportedly was added at the request of Arab interests.

In an April 23 letter to the IAEA, the 18 Arab national members of the nuclear oversight group urged IAEA chief Yukiya Amano to enforce a resolution calling on Israel to allow IAEA inspection of its nuclear facilities.

Israel has refused to do so.

The agenda item, however, could be removed if the U.S. and other countries mount strong opposition to it.

If the item remains on the agenda, it could deflect attention from the topic of Iran's nuclear enrichment efforts and Tehran's refusal until now to adhere to numerous United Nations Security Council resolutions calling on Iran to halt its nuclear program. If the item is removed from the IAEA agenda, it could encourage other Arab countries to undertake a nuclear initiative, making it impossible to achieve a nuclear-free Middle East, which already may be too late due to Israel's alleged nuclear arsenal.

Eric Holder & the Muslim Extremists in Detroit

As I told you more than a week ago, Barack Obama’s Attorney General Eric Holder was scheduled to speak, last night, to the usual suspects in the Detroit-area Islamic community, including CAIR and my “buddy,” “former” Islamic terrorist, marriage and immigration fraud perpetrator, and FBI award revokee, Imad Hamad. I’m THE authority on Hamad, stopped that FBI award, and I’ve monitored and written a ton about him over more than a decade of following him (and being endlessly stalked by him). As I predicted, Holder pandered to the crowd and spoke Hamad’s “language.”

But as I’ve also noted, this isn’t anything new. For the past week, the CIA has been in town (Dearbornistan, to be exact), heavily recruiting Arab Muslims and other Muslims, claiming they need these people as Arabic linguists and “to understand the culture.” But the CIA continues to forsake the Christian Arab community and reject them as linguists and cultural advisors and consultants. It’s disgusting. But not anything I didn’t tell you about when CIA Director Leon Panetta was in town pandering to Hamad, Hezbollah agent Osama Siblani, and a host of other extremist cretins who openly praise mass murdering terrorists.

And, as I’ve noted over the years, this ain’t an Obama thing. This uber-pandering and brown-nosing of the most extreme Muslims in Detroit was begun by George W. Bush, when he was campaigning for President and sought (and got) the Muslim endorsement and after 9/11 and for his entire Presidency, when he sought to pander even more. It was in 2003 that I stopped the FBI from giving Hamad a national award at the J. Edgar Hoover Building, a move that brought me a lot of attacks from all over the place. But I didn’t care. It was the right thing. Truth won out. But some people don’t really care so much about the truth.

And, in that vein, it’s interesting–not to mention extremely petty and typical of her extreme egomania–that Michelle Malkin, who noted this, cites Daniel Pipes on Hamad. She knows I’m THE authority on Hamad. Like I said and as she well knows, my 2003 New York Post columns exposed Hamad and stopped the FBI award.

And Pipes only knows about Hamad from me. Everything he cites about Hamad on his blog is basically ripped off from my site and my research, his usual M.O. of recent years. This site is the number one result on google for Imad Hamad. But Malkin is so spiteful, vindictive, and again, petty, she went out of her way to cite Pipes instead. She’s aware of my work on Hamad because, in her less megalomaniacal days, she congratulated me for stopping the award to Hamad and cited my New York Post column about then-ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) chieftess Julie Myers’ confab with Hamad. Yup, she’s bothered by me. HA! Some of us are experts who care about getting things done. Others are dilettantes who don’t know what they’re talking about, but love to whine and deny others credit for their expertise, years of research, and hard work.

You can’t get in the way of the Fraudkin, or her pettiness (and petty theft, as both Geller and I can tell you) will be visited upon you in spades, especially if you get under her skin. Yup, I get to her. And it’s funny, the insecurity. I guess she didn’t like my asking her why she continues to help and raise money for a woman and her organization which praised and condoned Muslim death, rape, and torture threats against me and my family. And I’m sure she didn’t like, a couple of weeks ago, when I asked her why she promoted a viciously anti-Semitic article on her site (more on that later). I’m not the first to whom she’s done this.

When she shamelessly ripped off Pamela Geller’s scoop about Rachael Ray, Dunkin’ Donuts, and the keffiyeh, she finally gave Pamela a tiny credit on her site. But then, she removed it out of spite. She loves to get credit for her work, but when it comes to other people, well, it depends how well you pander to her.

And then, there’s the anti-Ann Coulter petition Malkin circulated at CPAC, trying to get conservatives to denounce her use of the f-word (rhymes with “maggot”). She also cornered Sean Vannity for her now-defunct Hot Air videos, putting him on the spot, trying to get him to denounce Coulter, but he wouldn’t bite after Malkin’s repeated whining that her kids heard the word (it’s CPAC! don’t bring your toddler brats). Remember that the next time you read her “work.” Underneath it all, it’s basically score-settling, and you’re not getting the full or accurate picture (she denounced Bill O’Reilly for having Al Sharpton on his show because she had a falling out with Bill O, but won’t mention that her buddy Sean Vannity has Sharpton on more than any show on television).

Some of us get things done–I stopped Hamad’s FBI award and the FBI thanked me (among other things this site and its readers have achieved). Others just whine, obfuscate, engage in hypocrisy, and settle scores. Then, they pretend like they did something. But they never really achieve anything of note . . . except fame and fortune. Hey, isn’t that what Paris Hilton and Heidi and Spencer are seeking, too?

Pajamas Media’s Breaking “Exclusive” Covered by Schlussel a Month Ago

More evidence that Pajamas Media is neither to be taken seriously nor believed. First, I told you about the lie-filled video about Detroit by lazy punk (and anti-Semite) Steven Crowder. He completely pulled “facts” out of his butt and made up things like “bear sightings” in Detroit. Now, there’s Richard Pollock, PJM’s Washington Bureau Chief.

Today, he has what he claims is an “exclusive” on Janet Napolitano’s meeting, last month, with a group of Muslim extremists (he says it’s Muslims tied to the Muslim Brotherhood, but in fact, it’s many noxious Muslim and Arab groups) and other ethno-centric activists (and, of course, PJM’s slobbering former advertising partner, Michelle Fraudkin, regurgitates this “exclusive” BS). Problem is, it’s not exclusive at all. It’s old news, and something I covered on this site the day after it happened. Schlussel Flashback:

And to make matters worse, Richard Pollock displays that he’s really not much of a competent journalist. Like his PJM colleague Steven Crowder, his phony faux-”exclusive” claims that the names of the organizations and participants in the Napolitano meeting aren’t available because Homeland Security refused to disclose them. Uh, hello . . . ? If you read my entry on the event, not only did I disclose some of the names and the organizations, but some of the Muslim and other organizations who participated also disclosed all of the participants in their own statements. Check out this press release, which discloses the names of all the organizations and the individuals representing them who were at the meeting.

I’ve cut and pasted, above, for the incompetent and research-challenged (that means you, Richard). And note that the Bush Administration–particularly Napolitano’s predecessor, Michael Chertoff–met with and welcomed all the same groups and people. New boss same as the old boss. (To those with the “miss me yet?” Bush signs, no, I don’t miss him. He wasn’t much better–or different–than Obama and I wish both were long gone.)

Here’s a tip to Richard Pollock for his next, um, “exclusive” (a month after everyone else wrote about it). Try google. I know that, like Steven Crowder, PJM likes to be lazy and lie, because they simply can’t be bothered to do their homework. But credibility is everything and PJM deservedly has less and less with people who have a clue (which doesn’t include Fraudkin, by the way).

“Exclusive”? Only if you think “news” that bread now comes in slices is also “exclusive.” Read it here first. Skip the incompetents.

Confirmed: Islamic Terrorist Financed Miss USA Contestant

Last week, I told you about Rima Fakih, the Hezbollah-supporting Miss Michigan USA who will compete in tonight’s Miss USA pageant owned by Donald Trump on NBC. I told you about Fakih’s many relatives who are top Hezbollah terrorists and some who “martyred” themselves against Israel.

But I also suspected that immigration/marriage fraud perpetrator, FBI award revokee, and “former” Islamic terrorist Imad Hamad (an open supporter of Hezbollah, HAMAS, etc.) also helped finance Fakih’s pageant candidacy. And I was right.

Because I exposed Fakih for who she really is, her thuggish cadre of supporters and their Islamic friends at a major Detroit newspaper responded with a front-page, gushing puff-piece and page-long waterfall of drivel. In yesterday’s Detroit Freepistan, resident Islamic regurgitator, er . . . “reporter” Niraj Warikoo noted that Hamad financed Fakih’s bid to become Miss Michigan. He also engages in taqiyyah (Islamic deception of the infidels) by pushing a fraudulent Christian angle for Fakih.

For previous pageants, Fakih sought — and received — support from Arab-American leaders in Dearborn, including Imad Hamad, head of the Michigan branch of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee. His group helped once support Fakih financially. . . .

PUH-LEEZE. So what if they celebrate Jesus or Christmas? So do Alawite Muslims, including the Assad Family that runs Syria and persecutes and tortures Christians. The fact is, that Rima Fakih is a Shi’ite Muslim whose family are members of Hezbollah–the Islamic terrorist group that murdered over 300 mostly-Christian Marines and U.S. Embassy officials in Beirut. Hezbollah means the “Party of allah,” NOT the party of Jesus. Wake up to this PR fakery, people.

And then there’s Hamad, as you may remember, in 2003, I stopped the FBI from giving a planned award to Hamad, when I wrote about him in a New York Post column. Because the FBI finally recognized what I wrote–that Hamad was identified in videotape engaging in activities as a Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine terrorist, that Hamad was a student visa violator who committed marriage fraud to stay here, and that Hamad praised as “patriotic” the teaching of three-year-old Palestinian kids to become homicide bombers against Jews and Christians–Hamad’s award was revoked.

Yup, what a great thing it’ll be for Donald Trump and his pageant if they pick the candidate who supports–and is supported by–several Islamic terrorists and terrorist groups, to be the next Miss USA. They’re idiots that they let her get this far. Trump could have expelled her the way he did with Miss California.

But he just didn’t have the cojones here. Hey, Donald, you’re fired.

Madeline Sweeney might be turning over in her grave.

On October 9th, the courageous flight attendant murdered aboard Flight 11, which hit the World Trade Center’s North Tower on 9/11, will be honored posthumously by FBI Director Robert Mueller.

Unfortunately, she is being honored along with a man who supports terrorism and was himself a suspected terrorist.

When Sweeney’s husband, Michael, accepts her award for Exceptional Public Service at a ceremony at FBI Headquarters in Washington, Imad Hamad will be bestowed with the same honor – the only other non-FBI civilian to be so honored in America, this year.

Given Hamad’s record, it is outrageous the FBI would honor him for anything. And it is an abomination of Sweeney’s heroism in the face of sudden death by terrorists. (Information she gave on a phone call to the ground helped the FBI piece together evidence and reconstruct the hijackings.)

Born in a Palestinian refugee camp in Lebanon, Hamad was a suspected member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), the Communist faction of Palestinian terrorism responsible for countless homicide bombings and the October 2001 assassination of Israeli Tourism Minister Rehavam Zeevi.

The INS was so opposed to Hamad’s presence in the United States that it fought to deport him for over two decades. But, under political pressure from Michigan politicians, like Senator Carl Levin and Rep. David Bonior, the immigration judge chose to disregard classified evidence, and he is now a U.S. citizen. (Hamad’s lawyer, Noel Saleh, proudly proclaimed that he – Saleh – financially supported Hezbollah.)

Since then, as Midwest Regional Director of the American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC), Hamad has been busy promoting the terrorist cause—doing interviews throughout the Detroit media supporting Hezbollah, Hamas, and Islamic hate.

In a 2002 broadcast on Detroit’s FOX affiliate, Imad Hamad supported a Palestinian Authority TV “Sesame Street”-style program that urges Palestinian children to kill Jews and Christians and urges them to become homicide bombers. In it, a boy sings, “When I wander into Jerusalem, I will become a suicide bomber.” Another song: “How pleasant is the smell of martyrs . . . the land enriched by the blood, the blood pouring out of a fresh body.” Hamad called the program “patriotic.”

In a March 1999 Detroit News interview, Hamad defended the same program and Palestinian textbooks that portray Westerners, Christians, and Jews as the enemies of Islam and the Arab World.

Hamad has opposed virtually every arrest, indictment and conviction of Islamic terrorists.

When men were arrested (and later convicted) for smuggling arms to Hezbollah over Detroit’s Ambassador Bridge, Hamad wished for “better U.S. relations with Hezbollah,” the terrorist group which murdered over 300 American Marines and civilians. “People here are morally supportive” of Hezbollah, he said. When Customs raided several Islamic businesses and arrested owners for laundering over $50 million per year to Yemen in violation of the Patriot Act, Hamad protested. When four Detroit Al-Quaida sleeper cell suspects were charged (three were convicted) of plotting to blow up landmarks and tourist attractions, Hamad protested that, too.

Then there’s the 2002 National Palestinian Student Conference on the Palestine Solidarity Movement, whose ostensible purpose was to promote divestment from Israel. “Annihilate the Jews” was chanted in Arabic at the University of Michigan conference, which featured indicted alleged Islamic Jihad frontman Sami Al-Arian as its keynote speaker, along with other anti-Western, anti-Semitic speakers, some with terrorist ties. Hamad’s Michigan ADC sponsored and endorsed the conference, which was organized by ADC-University of Michigan chief Fadi Kiblawi. Under Hamad’s “leadership,” Kiblawi authored an article stating he wished to “strap a bomb to one’s chest and kill” Jews.

At Michigan ADC’s April 25th awards banquet, Hamad gave its “Attorney of the Year” award to Nabih Ayad, an attorney for several accused terrorists and over 130 illegal Middle Eastern immigrants who paid off an INS employee to become instant greencard holders. Hamad and Ayad sued to keep them from being deported. Ayad’s clients, include Omar Abdel Fatah Al-Shishani—accused of attempting to launder $12 million in phony bank checks to fund Al-Quaida—who recently pled guilty to a lesser charge and is awaiting sentencing. Hamad defended him, too.

Hamad has been busy globetrotting to promote the Islamist cause. In January, he led a delegation to terrorist sponsor state Syria, where Syrian officials discussed American disinformation campaigns targeting Arabs and Muslims and hailed Hamad for “enlightening the US public opinion about the reality of the situation in the Middle East.” In May, he visited Lebanese Parliament President and former Shi’ite Amal Militia chief Nabih Berry, leading a delegation which included several men who head Detroit Islamic charities that are suspected Hamas and Al-Quaida fronts.

Hamad’s latest effort is opposing Michigan Senate Resolution 77, which denounces Palestinian terrorism and supports Israel in fighting against it.

Hamad was nominated for the award by Detroit FBI Special Agent in Charge Willie Hulon because he organized BRIDGES, a group of Arabs who meet with Hulon and other Detroit federal agents once a month to protest arrests of suspected terrorists, and because he enlisted Hulon to partner with ADC for its unique brand of sensitivity training for Detroit area high schoolers. Since Hamad has opposed the FBI and other government efforts to thwart terrorism every step of the way and given his views, the FBI award is like an award to Fritz Kuhn and his Nazi-sympathizing German American Bund during World War II.

That would be bad enough.

But Robert Mueller is equating Hamad with a heroic murdered flight attendant who acted bravely in the face of terrorists.

You’d think the FBI would have more respect for the dead.
