Let us be clear—This is not going to be easy.
Earning a pathway to citizenship should not be called amnesty. All leaders should reject amnesty. And we ask those who label an earned pathway to citizenship as amnesty to stop politicizing this debate needlessly and to honestly acknowledge the difference.
The crisis the country is witnessing in Arizona over immigration is the result of a failed immigration policy at the federal level. Arizona lawmakers felt compelled to act because the federal government would not.
Immigration policy is a moral issue and the federal government is the reason we have this crisis. Sparked by Arizona's law authorizing law enforcement officers to question a person about his or her immigration status if there is reasonable suspicion the person is in the country illegally,after being stopped for another reason. This is no different than what is asked of legal citizens boarding a plane or traveling overseas.

Rational policy would put undocumented persons on a path: one that leads to earned legal citizenship or residency, one that leads to acquiring legal guest-worker status, or one that leads to deportation, which should be swift for undocumented felons.
A pathway to earned citizenship or temporary residency should be subject to appropriate penalties, waiting periods and background checks. Individuals seeking citizenship should demonstrate moral character, and embrace of American values, and a commitment to full participation in American society and must speak English and understand the rights and duties of American citizenship.
America's success is largely due to its openness to new legal immigrants. America has proven to the world that people from diverse backgrounds can come here, live in peace with their neighbors, pursue their dreams and succeed.
America must always stand for the freedom, so this process should include varying steps.
The first of which is paying back the State in which the person applying for ( amnesty) I mean citizenship is residing. Now since they have been paying taxes and working 2 jobs that Americans won't do, this should be an easy first step.
If they used social services or health care while they have been our uninvited house guests, they need to pay for services they used Illegally. If their children went to school and they were not paying school taxes, they need to reimburse the state or school district for the cost of the schooling. No more or no less than what legal residents of the state are paying.
As for repayment, it could be in the form of a higher state income tax on each new temporary citizen applying for the new green card. It could also be in the form of no Federal income tax refund until these services have been paid back. Remember this going to be a very small amount of workers folks because they are all working and paying taxes and not using free social services in the USA to begin with. They are just doing jobs Americans will not do at any cost!
The bottom line here is they are line jumping plan and simple. If you try that at your local DMV or social security office you might just be asked for your papers or worse the cops may get called. This is why I don't think it is tried very often, I mean walking into to a government agency and demanding to go to the front of the line. The answer from the clerk is take a number and go to the back of the line . So anyone in line right now waiting legally must be made a citizen before the first illegal living in this country illegally is!
The person applying must remain clean with out committing a felony for 5 -7 years before final citizenship is granted. That one seem easy,you would think.
Remember this is not going to be easy there are millions of new constituents ready to start voting. Oh I forgot to mention they can't vote until they are granted final citizenship, this keeps everybody on both sides honest.
Our nation must secure but not close, its borders and allow the millions of undocumented and otherwise law-abiding persons living in our midst to come out of the shadows.
To help our partner Mexico in this regard, we will set up a 25-mile buffer zone inside Mexico. American soldiers will control this zone and because it’s on the Mexican side we can use the full force of the US Army and Marines to secure our southern border.
In this US zone we should create a free market Enterprise zone instead of giving the Mexican government 1 more dime of aid. This how we stop the migration, peace through strength and jobs. The drug gangs will no longer be able to come across the Us border and do business. Listen there are going to be 25 million workers needed for the new green economy.(“ So Al Gore has said”)
We can build the factories in the new zone; we would have cheap labor and no environmental regulations. The world would start to look again to Mexico and America as a haven for business and opportunity. While there we must start to train the next generation of Narco cops that will be needed to take the rest of Mexico back from the drug lords.
We must return the already incarcerated illegals in American jails back to new state of art Mexican Detention facilities built in the newly created buffer zone.
Finally our new citizens must start their new lives giving back and helping us rebuilt our inner cities in the US, Great towns like Detroit, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Cleveland and Chicago.
Each member of the US congress will be required to take 10,000 newly- applied for citizens into their districts so their communities can benefit from the new workforce. They should help bring the violent crime rate down. The local tax base will get a shot in the arm. We must spread the wealth around as president Obama has said.
We are told that these new Americans will be the life blood and will fuel Americas Engine and I agree. No one state should get all the rewards.
Let’s spread the wealth around and help the members of our congress!

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Citizen and Immigration Services, a division of the Department of Homeland Security, already has drafted a plan for processing 13 million illegal alien applicants for amnesty in a 30-week period at an estimated cost of $1 billion, WND has learned.
The plan, a copy of which was obtained by WND, anticipates the approval of so-called "Comprehensive Immigration Reform" legislation pending in Congress and assumes a nine-month ramp-up period for processing of applications.
The undated draft report anticipates the possibility of the legislation requiring public benefits to amnesty applicants.

"If the statute requires interim benefits while application pending, issue discrete variant of status document (shorter term duration that [sic] if issued after prospective immigrant status granted)," the 14-page memo states.

Under the plan, applicants 14 through 79 years old would be required to submit themselves for photographs, a full set of fingerprints and a signature. A photo and single print would be required for others.
Only one outside contractor is discussed in the memo – Northrop Grumman – and the plan suggests negotiating a contract now, even before the legislation is approved. It also calls for volunteer help at local service centers and field offices.
The last time Washington attempted a push for amnesty under the guise of "Comprehensive Immigration Reform," under President George W. Bush in 2007, the project triggered an outcry from talk radio and the public. It failed as a result. However, the political makeup of the Congress has changed since then, becoming even more Democratic.
Democratic leaders recognize their control of both houses is in jeopardy in the November elections and are determined to pass the amnesty program – though they abhor that word.
Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., has enlisted evangelical leaders to promote the plan. Democrats are determined to get at least some Republican support for the measure so the party is not held to account for amnesty like it is for another unpopular piece of legislation following the health-care debate that already threatens many Democrat seats.
Even Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., and Sen. Lindsay Graham, R-S.C., formerly vociferous proponents of the plan during the Bush administration, have distanced themselves from efforts in the Senate to revive it.
"You can play a vital role," Schumer told religious leaders including Richard Land of the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission and Mathew of Liberty Counsel, saying Republicans have great respect for them. "So please, if you could, help us get some Republicans just to sit in a room and talk to us."

History Of The Zetas Drug Gang

In the late 1990s, the Gulf Cartel leader, Osiel Cárdenas Guillen, wanted to track down and kill rival cartel members as a form of protection. He began to recruit former Mexican Army’s elite Grupo Aeromóvil de Fuerzas Especiales (GAFE) soldiers, originally trained in counter-insurgency and locating and apprehending drug cartel members. It is believed they were originally trained at the military School of the Americas in the United States[10][11] and by other foreign specialists of the United States, France and Israel. They were trained in rapid deployment, aerial assaults, marksmanship, ambushes, small-group tactics, intelligence collection, counter-surveillance techniques, prisoner rescues and sophisticated communications.
Cardenas Guillen's top recruit, Lieutenant Arturo Guzmán Decena, brought with him approximately 30 other GAFE deserters enticed by salaries substantially higher than those paid by the Mexican government. The role of Los Zetas was soon expanded, collecting debts, securing cocaine supply and trafficking routes known as plazas(zones) and executing its foes, often with grotesque savagery.[3][6]
Guzmán Decena (Z1) was killed by a rival cartel member on November 2002 in a restaurant,[12] while he was dining; his second-in-command, Rogelio González Pizaña (Z2) was captured on October 2004 and so Heriberto Lazcano (Z3) ascended to the leadership of the paramilitaries.
In response to such aggressive efforts on the part of the Zetas to defend and control its smuggling corridors to the United States, the rival Sinaloa Cartel established its own heavily armed enforcer gang, Los Negros. The group operates in a similar fashion to the Zetas, but with less complexity.
Upon the arrest of Gulf Cartel boss Osiel Cardenas Guillen in 2003, Los Zetas negotiated a collaboration pact with the Gulf Cartel and the Beltrán-Leyva Cartel to engage in their own drug shipments.[5][13][14]
In February 2010, Los Zetas (and its ally, the Betran Leyva Cartel) engaged in a violent turf war against its former employer/partner, the Gulf Cartel, in the border city of Reynosa, Tamaulipas,[15][16] turning some border towns to "ghost towns".[17] It was reported that a Gulf Cartel member killed a top Zeta lieutenant named Victor Mendoza. The Zetas demanded that the Gulf cartel turn over the killer. However the Gulf Cartel refused and an all-out war has broken out between the two gangs. [18]
Organization structure
Los Zetas have set up camps to train recruits as well as corrupt ex-federal, state, and local police officers.[19] In September 2005 testimony to the Mexican Congress, then-Defense Secretary Clemente Vega indicated that the Zetas had also hired at least 30 former Kaibiles from Guatemala to train new recruits because the number of former Mexican special forces men in their ranks had shrunk.[19] Current estimates place Los Zetas around 200 members.[citation needed] Los Zetas' training locations have been identified as containing the same items and setup as GAFE training facilities.
Los Zetas are primarily based in the border region of Nuevo Laredo, with hundreds more throughout the country. In Nuevo Laredo it is believed they have carved the city into territories, placing lookouts at arrival destinations such as airports, bus stations and main roads.[4] In addition to conducting activities along the border, they are visible throughout the Gulf Coast region, in the Southern states of Tabasco, Yucatan, Quintana Roo, and Chiapas, and in the Pacific Coast states of Guerrero, Oaxaca, and Michoacán, as well as in Mexico City.[20] Evidence also indicates that they may be active in Texas, other U.S. states[21] and in Italy with the 'Ndrangheta.[8]
Some of the original members are:[22] Arturo Guzmán Decena, Rogelio González Pizaña, Heriberto Lazcano, Jaime González Durán, Efraín Teodoro Torres, Raúl Hernandez Barrón, Óscar Guerrero Silva, Luís Alberto Guerrero Reyes, Jesús Enrique Rejón, Mateo Díaz López, Jorge López, Daniel Peréz Rojas, Sergio Enrique Ruiz Tlapanco, Nabor Vargas García, Ernesto Zatarín Beliz, Eduardo Estrada González, Flavio Méndez Santiago, Prisciliano Ibarra Yepis, Rogelio Guerra Ramírez, Miguel Ángel Soto Parra, Galindo Mellado Cruz, Gonzalo Ceresano Escribano, Daniel Enrique Márquez Aguilar and Germán Torres Jiménez.
Over time, many of the original 31 have been killed or arrested, and a number of younger men have filled the vacuum, forming something that resembles what Los Zetas used to be, but still far from the efficiency of the original Zetas.[23]
Tactics
The group is extremely well armed, they wear body armor and some wear Kevlar ballistic helmets; their arsenal includes AR-15 and AK-47 rifles, MP5 submachine guns, .50 cal. machine guns, grenade launchers, surface-to-air missiles, dynamite and helicopters.[6] They are known to operate with modern wiretapping equipment. Los Zetas is known to operate with a higher tactical degree than the local authorities, often uniformed as Federal Preventive Police and driving similarly labeled vehicles. The group has been linked to monitoring and kidnapping of journalists, and the murder of rival cartel members and their families.[4] Los Zetas cartel has been known to hire local gangs such as the Texas Syndicate and MS-13 to carry out contract killings.[4][24]
In addition to the commandos, there is a hierarchy within the group, composed of:[25]
- Los Halcones (The Hawks) keep watch over distribution zones and use 2 meter radio band.
- Las Ventanas (The Windows) comprise bike-riding youngsters in their mid-teens who whistle to warn of the presence of police and other suspicious individuals near small stores that sell drugs.
- Los Mañosos (The Tricky Ones) acquire arms.
- Los Leopardos (Leopards) are prostitutes who slyly extract information from their clients.
- Dirección (Command) are approximately 20 communications experts who intercept phone calls, follow and identify suspicious automobiles, and even accomplish kidnappings and executions.[6][26]
Los Zetas are involved in a myriad of criminal activities. They have branched out into kidnapping, murder-for-hire, extortion, money-laundering, human smuggling, and oil siphoning.[27] For security purposes, Los Zetas have adopted a cell-like structure to limit the information that any one member of the organization knows about his associates.
Law enforcement raids
Following a joint investigation, titled Operation Black Jack, by the ATF, DEA, ICE and the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) through the FBI, two Zeta safe houses were identified and raided, recovering more than 40 kidnapped individuals.[4]
On October 26, 2008, the Washington Times reported of an FBI warning that Los Zetas' cell in Texas were to engage law enforcement with a full tactical response should law enforcement attempt to intervene in their operations;[28] their cell leader was been identified as Jaime González Durán (The Hummer), who was later arrested on November 7, 2008, in the border city Reynosa, Tamaulipas.[29] In this operation, three safehouses in Reynosa were raided by elements of the Mexican Federal Police and Mexican Army, yielding the largest weapon seizure in the history of Mexico; it included 540 rifles including 288 assault rifles and several .50-caliber rifles, 287 hand grenades, 2 M72 LAW anti-tank weapons, 500,000 rounds of ammunition, 67 ballistic vests and 14 sticks of dynamite.[30][31]
In February 2009, Texas Governor Rick Perry announced a program called "Operation Border Star Contingency Plan" to safeguard the border if Zetas carry out their threats to attack U.S. safety officers. This project includes the use of tanks, airplanes and the National Guard "as a preventive measure upon the possible collapse of the Mexican State" to protect the border from the attack of the Zetas and receive an eventual exodus of Mexicans fleeing from the violence.[32]
Recent Activity
Over the last few years, the Zetas have carried out a series of violent strikes. Below is an incomplete list of some of the more horrific crimes perpetrated.
- In February of 2004, a large group of their commandos broke into a prison in Michoacán Mexico and freed 25 fellow Zetas.[33]
- In June of 2005, they killed Alejandro Coello, police chief of Nuevo Laredo, only six hours after he was sworn into office.[34]
- In March of 2006 they forced the resignation of Coello’s replacement by threatening to kill more and more people if he would not step down. The police chief finally broke after personally discovering three charred bodies on the side of a city street.[35]
- In February of 2007 several Zetas dressed in army uniforms, massacring five police officers and two administrative assistants and injuring countless others in the town of Acapulco.[36]
- In April of 2007, Los Zetas murdered Chilpancingo’s police chief while he was eating in a restaurant with his wife and family.[37]
- Also in April of 2007 the Zetas murdered the police chief in Veracruz by assaulting his house with mortars, killing his wife and four kids in the process.[38]
- In May of 2007 they kidnapped, tortured and murdered Jacinto Granada, a Mexican Infantry captain.[39]
- In June of 2007 Los Zetas robbed several major casinos in Nuevo Leon, Veracruz, Coahuila, and Baja California.[40]
- In the first eleven months of 2008, Los Zetas were directly responsible for the deaths of 5,300 people. This number includes soldiers, their own operatives, civilians, and rival drug traffickers, In those same eleven months, approximately 4,300 soldiers died in Iraq.[41]

- Reynosa mayor says fighting is between two drug trafficking organizations
(CNN) -- The U.S. Consulate in the border city of Matamoros, Mexico, temporarily closed its Consular Agency in the nearby city of Reynosa because of heightened drug-related violence in recent days.
A "Warden Message" was issued by the consulate "to advise U.S. citizens of recent gun battles in Reynosa, Mexico, and cities surrounding Reynosa in the last week."
The mayor of Reynosa, located across the border from McAllen, Texas, told a Mexican newspaper that recent shootings have not been between authorities and drug cartels, but between two drug trafficking organizations operating in the region, the Gulf cartel, and the Zetas.
In response, the U.S. Consulate has restricted travel of American officials to Reynosa and closed its office there until further notice, the letter says.
"The Consulate General in Matamoros advises U.S. citizens to take the above information into consideration when making any decisions concerning traveling to or within Reynosa," the letter says.
Details of the confrontations and numbers of injured or killed are hard to come by, as local media often self-censor out of fear of retaliation.
According to local reports, gunmen in as many as 20 vehicles clashed with members of the Mexican military and municipal police in Ciudad Mier, just west of Reynosa, during a daytime gun battle Tuesday that reportedly resulted in the kidnapping of 10 municipal police officers.
Video from the scene showed abandoned police sport utility vehicles with bullet holes and broken windows. Shattered glass covered the street in the backdrop of palm trees. A damaged red truck with the insignia C.D.G. -- the Spanish acronym for the Gulf Cartel -- was shown being towed from the shooting scene.
Neither federal nor state officials would confirm or deny the reports of the gunfight in telephone calls from CNN.
A state attorney general's office spokesman in Tamaulipas, the state where Reynosa is located, did not confirm any shootings in or around the city but said that many of the reports were unsubstantiated.
"All this is a wave of rumors," Ruben Dario Rios told CNN.
On a tour of the border cities, Tamaulipas Gov. Eugenio Hernandez Flores acknowledged the rumors but sought to reassure residents that the government was committed to controlling the drug cartel violence.
Mosque being built at ground zero NY City - This is in your face Islamic domination and expansionism
Back on December 8th, I posted about the mosque being built at ground zero, and entitled the post "Giving Thanks," because that's how I saw it. A giant mosque planted on the site of Islamic destruction is their way of ....giving thanks. Sort of a giant victory lap. Any decent American, Muslim or otherwise, wouldn't dream of such an insult. It's a stab in eye of America. What's wrong with these people? Have they no heart? No soul?
And the New York Times (where I first discovered the story) grandstanding and showboating the monstrosity was particularly sad.
This is territorial- This is in your face Islamic domination and expansionism. The location is no accident. Just as Al-Aqsa was built on top of the Temple in Jerusalem. And what about the Hagia Sophia, the ancient cathedral of the church of Constantinople, one of the great buildings of the world, the grandest church in Christendom at that time and for 1000 years thereafter -- and now a mosque? The Aya Sofya mosque -- they didn't change the name, just Islamified it.

Read your history. (You can skip Howard Zinn, Edward Said and Noam Chomsky, no revisionist rewrites will do) since “renewal” for Islam will surely intend to claim our sacred burial ground as their land of conquest via 9-11.
Such crushing submission in the wake of the largest and most devastating attack on America in pursuit of Islam's mandated goals is unspeakable. What a blow. This is not political correctness or sensitivity (surely it is insensitive to Americans); it is imposition of a soft sharia.
Clearly a more appropriate 'Islamic center' would be one devoted to expunging the koran of its violent texts that inspire and prescribe such acts in the name of allah and islamic supremacism. That is the only kind of Islamic center that would be appropriate, though it probably wouldn't last two minutes without being bombed by devout Muslims. Sort of like Zuhdi Jasser (the great non-believers' delusional hope) who was thrown out of his mosque because what he extols is not Islam.

Mosque At the World Trade Center: Muslim Renewal Or Insult Near Ground ZeroAn identified group with unknown sponsors has purchased building steps away from where the World Trade Center once stood -- to turn it into potentially one of the largest New York City mosques.
At the moment the building, the old Burlington Coat Factory, already serves as a mini-mosque: an iron grill lifts every Friday afternoon for a little known Imam leading prayers a few yards away from where Osama Bin Laden’s airborne Islamist bombers killed nearly 3000 people back in 2001.
The Imam, Feisal Abdul Rauf, told the New York Times -- which put the story on its front page Wednesday -- that he has assembled several million dollars to turn it into ‘’an Islamic center near the city’s most hallowed piece of land that would stand as one of ground zero’s more unexpected and striking neighbors.’’
The 61-year-old Imam said he paid $4.85 million for it -- in cash, records show. With 50,000 square feet of air rights and enough financing, he plans an ambitious project of $150 million, he said, akin to the Chautauqua Institution, the 92 Street Y or the Jewish Community Center.
The origins of such monies are unexplained; neither are the countries or entity advancing such huge donations. Most US mosques, including many in Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx are funded directly or indirectly by Saudi Arabia the country to which 15 of the 19 hijackers who bombed the World TradeCenter belonged. The UAE, Qatar and Iran are other major sponsors across the USA.
The money trail is an important question that must be answered by the Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg with more than a bland comment by one of his spokesmen, Andrew Brent, who quipped to the Times, “If it’s legal, the building owners have a right to do what they want.”
At the moment, the location is not designated a mosque, but rather an overflow prayer space for another mosque, Al Farah, at 245 West Broadway in TriBeCa, where Imam Feisal is the spiritual leader. Call this creeping annexation. On 9/11, the Burlington building, with 80 employees in its basement, is where a piece of a plane plunged through the roof, from either Flight 11 or Flight 175 crashing into the south tower at 9:03 a.m..
One of the investors for future oncoming funds is listed as the Cordoba Initiative, defined as an ‘’interfaith group’’ - and founded by Imam Feisal. Cordoba is the name militant Muslims often invoke when they recall the glory of Muslim empire in the centuries they occupied Spain.
As a former New York Times and Wall Street Journal correspondent, and as a New York Sun columnist who covered Islamic Fundamentalism extensively overseas and in the USA, I find the facts oddly lacking. The story as reported fails to answer, and avoid asking, so many pertinent questions.
The source of money matters as a significant part of the hundreds of mosques being built and already erected in this country double up as cultural Islamic centers for distributing literature-- Islamist propaganda in fact—from Bay Ridge Brooklyn to Detroit, and for schooling growing Muslim minorities. They house Imams of unknown origin and education, many of whom do not speak a word of English but preach in Arabic and Urdu -- radical messages, it often turns out.
As a reporter familiar with the Arab communities of the USA, I doubt the faithful fork out all that money for mega mosques, and if they did, the mayor’s office should prove it, not merely accept someone’s say so. It is an established fact that a significant percentage of the mosques built in the USA in the past two decades are receiving a disproportionate amount of their funds not only from the Saudis, but also the UAE, Qatar and Iran -- all problematic Islamists activist nations. The government just discontinued work on a major Iranian-funded mosque and center in New York City, which had operated under the radar since the days of the good old Shah of Iran under the auspices of the Pahlavi Foundation, and has beenowned since 1979 by the Mullahs of Iran.
The context here is that 15 of the 19 perpetrators of the attacks -- on the very site where this new mosque shall rise -- came from Saudi Arabia.
We saw how, in the case of Major Nidal Hasan of Ft. Hood, it turned out that three of the original participants in 9/11 had listened to the same preacher Major Hasan listened to: a man with a radical violent Islamic website now operating out of Yemen to radicalize American Muslims. In such a context,knowing more about the Imam overseeing a potential multimillion mosque at the World Trade Center site is essential to the story. Nearly 3,000 people were deliberately killed there – and the New York Times is papering over what is about to be built on the site in a nice, beatific pseudo-profile of the Imamoverseeing the mosque? Limiting access to this Imam to some nice quotes, showing him nattily dressed in a suit, and describing him merely as a Sufi, is vacuous, crafted and couched in public relations spin to obscure rather than explain. ‘’What happened that day was not Islam’’ is all that the Times quotes the Imam saying -- a rather lame comment given the enormity of his ambition and the iconic status of where he wants to put his mosque.
The mayor’s office should tell us more.

If you think I have been outrageous and fear mongering about the Muslim threat to this country, I am Sorry! David is one of the few people who understands the real and true threat we are up against. This is not theater he is very shaken by the scarf and the head dress. He understands why they are worn and what they really signal in the Muslim world. This is the same as gang colors or signs, being masked by a religion. The signs are everywhere but you have to know what your looking for, before you can see clearly.
Hamas is solely funded by Iran and it's sole purpose is the destruction of the Jews. David is confronted by many Muslims groups on campus across the country.This honestly is one of the scariest exchanges I’ve ever heard. This Muslim student could be any student any where. This is no different than a Catholic defending a petafile preists or defending cop killer Abdul Jamal.
This student is seemingly more afraid of Hamas, that she would choose a terrorist organization over her fellow students, over upholding morality and acceptance of diversity in thought is a heavy, pit-of-your-stomach sad. One of the most unbelievable videos I’ve ever seen:

Why some are offended by a little girl's flag

Just north, in Morgan Hill, Calif., we have the spectacle of five male students at Live Oak High School being kicked out for wearing tee-shirts with the American flag – clothing choices labeled "incendiary" by school officials in light of the day's Cinco de Mayo celebration. When they were told to turn their patriotic shirts inside-out or be suspended, the boys refused and were sent home.
Southward, with Arizona lawmakers desperately trying to legislatively protect their state from being decimated by half a million illegal aliens and the appalling levels of kidnapping, drug trafficking, crime, cultural depravity and unbearable economic drain they've inflicted on the state, critics respond by condemning Arizonans as "Nazis." Yet those who accuse law-abiding Arizonans of "bigotry" and "apartheid" display a mystifying empathy toward the illegal aliens who violate our laws, some of whom arrogantly and defiantly demonstrate as though this was their country, and we Americans were the trespassers and criminals! When Carrie Prejean had the courage and personal integrity to say on national TV (knowing full well it might cost her the Miss USA title – which it did) that she believes marriage should be between a man and a woman, many ridiculed her as a small-minded, fundamentalist bigot. But these same detractors are blithely tolerant when "gay rights" activists maliciously and blasphemously disrupt church services and terrorize parishioners to protest Christian "intolerance."
"Tea partiers" – the multitudes of normal, everyday, hardworking Americans, grandmothers in wheelchairs with their homemade signs and soccer moms who pick up every bit of litter after demonstrating peacefully against the unprecedented outrages of an insane government – are recklessly characterized as bigots, racists and violence-prone extremists, without a shred of evidence. This malevolent attitude toward regular Americans permeates the Obama administration, as well as the Obama propaganda ministry formerly known as the mainstream media. Yet these same, harsh tea-party critics demonstrate unending magnanimity toward leftwing demonstrators who routinely employ vile, defamatory language and intimidating and downright violent and criminal behavior. We see this "sympathy for the devil" in Eric Holder's Justice Department, which excuses the menacing New Black Panther Party thugs who brazenly threatened Philadelphia voters with a nightstick on Election Day 2008. Widely considered the worst case of voter intimidation in modern history, Holder dropped the charges. He is even sufficiently sympathetic to terrorist monsters dredged off foreign battlefields to reward them with the constitutional rights properly meant for Americans. We see the same inexplicable resonance with America-hating terrorists in the establishment media's bizarre sympathy for Times Square terrorist Faisal Shahzad, as well as for virtually every previous terrorist or attempted terrorist to strike America in the last decade.
I remember, right after the Sept. 11 attacks, another California school, Rocklin's Breen Elementary, erected a marquee-type sign to honor the 3,000 Americans killed, which simply said, "God Bless America." Offended by this, the ACLU threatened to sue the school for an "unconstitutional establishment of religion." You'd think, with all the problems we faced then – nameless, faceless, demonic enemies trying to blow us up by the thousands (problems that remain today) – that the ACLU might find more sinister enemies to fight than a grieving school proclaiming "God bless America." But you see, the ACLU – which conspires to remove memorial Christian crosses from the gravesites of heroic men who died for our freedoms – sympathizes with and defends evil and corruption, and is offended by goodness and godliness. If you don't get this, you don't understand what is destroying America.

I'm haunted by the story of Taryn Hathaway, the 13-year-old Salinas, Calif., girl who reportedly was told by her art teacher at Gavilan View Middle School that her lovely drawing of the American flag with the words "God Bless America" inscribed on it was "offensive."
The reason I say I'm "haunted" is because the story perfectly distills everything that is wrong with America today.

Is this remotely offensive in any conceivable way?
Of course not. And yet, some people are indeed offended by the American flag, by God, by the Bible, by the Boy Scouts, by our soldiers, by tea partiers, by success itself – by everyone and everything that is decent and wholesome and noble in our country. Let's find out why.
First, let's depart Salinas and survey the surrounding landscape.
What is this bizarre, topsy-turvy mentality taking hold in our country, which makes some of us rich in "compassion" for corruption, but viciously attack decency and reason?
Why, in America today, do an increasing number of us see good as evil, and evil as good?
Some of us are twisted up as a result of having been either corrupted or indoctrinated. Whether we're seduced into sexual immorality, terribly spoiled by weak and insecure parents, tempted to hate and blame others for our problems and retreat into perpetual "victimhood," or indoctrinated by leftist professors into seductive but malignant ideologies like Marxism – the result is an automatic change in our values and worldview. Up becomes down and right becomes wrong.
Obvious example: Say you're tempted to join a criminal gang: The police, once a benign and protective force in your life (when you were law-abiding) are now seen as enemies, while the drug-dealing gangbanger, once a predatory character to avoid, is now your friend and benefactor.
More subtle and common example: You're a good kid who goes off to college, but you are seduced into sexual immorality. Whereas formerly you believed in God, the Ten Commandments and traditional morality, now that you've been tempted to cross over a great moral line, you magically see everything differently in this new realm: You're suddenly uncomfortable around those who still advocate the morality and common sense you left behind. Your attitudes toward abortion, homosexuality and all other moral/sexual issues have also "evolved"; you're more "tolerant" – toward other immoral people – but are strangely intolerant of those who remind you of the moral standards you left behind.
What we're talking about here is not political, cultural or even religious. It's spiritual. There is light and there is darkness in this world. And the darkness cannot stand the light.
By the way, news reports say the 13-year-old flag girl's teacher – who deemed the "God Bless America" flag offensive – warmly approved of another student's picture of Barack Obama, who is currently dismantling America and everything that beautiful flag stands for.
Still, you might well wonder, how could anybody be offended by a little girl drawing an American flag with "God Bless America" on it? Obviously I don't know this particular teacher's mind, but here are some possibilities: "'God Bless America' may offend atheists," or "We're in a public school, so this is a violation of the constitutional separation of church and state," or "America is pursuing immoral wars, so I'm offended by mindless flag-waving patriotism that leads to killing," and so on. Whatever the rationale, such mental babble serves only to cover up the underlying reality that the darkness that has wormed its way into us is offended by something noble, which makes the darkness feel uncomfortable.
Of course, as I explain throughout "How Evil Works: Understanding and Overcoming the Destructive Forces That Are Transforming America," redemption is always available to all of us. If only we realized that just facing this inner darkness honestly and with total transparency – and believe me, there's some of it in all of us – is the equivalent to letting the light of God shine on it, driving it away.
It's kind of like when you've wronged somebody but haven't yet had the courage to go to them and apologize. So you feel the conflict of it in your soul. But then, when you finally face the problem honestly and sincerely confess and apologize to the person you offended, the problem and the conflict vanish into thin air. You're clean, free, healed. It's over – almost like it never happened. That's the magic of repentance and confession and forgiveness. That's what I'm talking about here, except the one we've offended is not some other person. It's God. And He's not even looking for an apology – not in words, anyway. He just wants us to stop running away from Him into the velvety darkness of pride and anger, where good seems evil and evil seems good.

NEW YORK – Though he's been in office some 16 months, one-third of his elected term, a multitude of questions still linger as to whether Barack Obama is legally eligible to serve as president of the United States.
And one organization, in Harlem, has decided to move the issue front and center by sponsoring what it calls "a real trial" it contends will "shed light" on the questions surrounding the 44th president.
Starting Friday and for a full week, the Atlah World Missionary Church will hold in essence a citizen's court in what it bills as "the greatest trial in American history."
The trial, which will include legal scholars and retired court officers, will examine several issues, including Obama's birth place, his citizenship status, his academic credentials and alleged ties to the Central Intelligence Agency as a student.
The Atlah World Missionary Church, headed by Rev. James Manning, says the proceedings are not a mock trial and are permitted under the U.S. Constitution:
"A number of Americans have been gravely concerned about the eligibility issue of Barack Obama... We have been able to look at the briefs filed by several attorneys and the courts have just refused categorically to allow any access or due process on the matter... We are going to call a 10th Amendment sanctioned trial. It is not a grand jury, it's not a hearing, it's a trial and we are going to follow all the rules and practices of both federal and state jurisprudence... We are going to adjudicate this trial in such a way that it will be historically respectful and appellate proof."
Manning admitted that any verdict such a trial might produce would likely not be enforceable:

"It would not be our intent to enforce a verdict. We report such information to the appropriate authorities and it will be incumbent upon them to act accordingly. We don't have the power to imprison or fine. But we will turn the findings of this trial over to the appropriate authorities," he said.
The Harlem cleric believes the mainstream media has consistently ignored important questions on the Obama presidency and the time has arrived to push for answers.
Among those subpoenaed to appear at the trial are former Secretary of State Condolezza Rice, Rev. Jesse Jackson, Louis Farrakhan and Alan Keyes.

Manning says while he does not expect many of those subpoenaed to appear, some might. Keyes is among those "looking favorably" on the Harlem trial.
The White House, not surprisingly, has had little to say, says the pastor.
"There has been absolute silence," he said.
But Manning confirmed subpoenas and indictments have been served on administration officials, though he refused to identify the individuals.
The Harlem pastor said the Harlem community, an Obama political stronghold, at first was annoyed at the trial, but in a sign of the times, now is taking a wait and see attitude.
"You need to know that Obama's popularity in the African-American community has been slipping greatly. They have been just holding their noses too," he said. "They are definitely very concerned that they did not pick the right person to represent them as the first black president."
The trial begins Saturday. On Friday, Manning will lead a protest march at Columbia University.
Among other efforts that already have been launched against Obama are grand jury "indictments" that have been generated by citizens' groups and a multitude of lawsuits. Some have alleged that he was not born in Hawaii in 1961 as he has written, or that the framers of the Constitution specifically excluded dual citizens – Obama's father was a subject of the British crown at Obama's birth – from being eligible for the office.
Several of the legal cases remain pending at the appellate level.
Besides Obama's actual birth documentation, the still-concealed documentation for him includes kindergarten records, Punahou school records, Occidental College records, Columbia University records, Columbia thesis, Harvard Law School records, Harvard Law Review articles, scholarly articles from the University of Chicago, passport, medical records, his files from his years as an Illinois state senator, his Illinois State Bar Association records, any baptism records, and his adoption records.

The campaign followed a petition that has collected more than 500,000 signatures demanding proof of his eligibility, the availability of yard signs raising the question and the production of permanent, detachable magnetic bumper stickers asking the question.
A new effort now asks those in authority regarding the nation's elections to demand the full proof.
The "certification of live birth" posted online and widely touted as "Obama's birth certificate" does not in any way prove he was born in Hawaii, since the same "short-form" document is easily obtainable for children not born in Hawaii. The true "long-form" birth certificate – which includes information such as the name of the birth hospital and attending physician – is the only document that can prove Obama was born in Hawaii, but to date he has not permitted its release for public or press scrutiny.
Oddly, though congressional hearings were held to determine whether Sen. John McCain was constitutionally eligible to be president as a "natural born citizen," no controlling legal authority ever sought to verify Obama's claim to a Hawaiian birth.

Barack Obama and the Democrats keep trying to paint the new law in Arizona on immigration as some sort of misguided effort by a frustrated fringe. Unfortunately for them, a new poll from Pew Research shows that they’re the fringe — even in their own party. Almost three-quarters of Americans support Arizona’s new law, and almost two-thirds of Democrats support the already-law requirement for immigrants to carry ID:
The public broadly supports a new Arizona law aimed at dealing with illegal immigration and the law’s provisions giving police increased powers to stop and detain people who are suspected of being in the country illegally.
Fully 73% say they approve of requiring people to produce documents verifying their legal status if police ask for them. Two-thirds (67%) approve of allowing police to detain anyone who cannot verify their legal status, while 62% approve of allowing police to question people they think may be in the country illegally.
But that’s just those nutty Republicans, right? Wrong. While Democrats split evenly on the law itself, the two provisions that caused the most controversy get broad support from Obama’s own party:
However, majorities of Democrats approve of two of the law’s principal provisions: requiring people to produce documents verifying legal status (65%) and allowing police to detain anyone unable to verify their legal status (55%).
That’s not the only bad news for Obama from Pew. While they have his overall job approval at a perhaps-generous 47%, his numbers on immigration have tanked over the last six months. They started off badly in November, at 31/48, making immigration one of his weakest policy areas, but he’s managed to lose 12 points in the gap since. He’s now at 25/54, down from 29/47 a month ago. His dismissive attitude towards Arizona’s law has damaged him.
Of course, it’s not just his remarks about the law that’s the problem. The federal government all but forced Arizona to act after its inaction allowed Phoenix to become the kidnapping capital of the world. Violence plagues Arizonans, natural-born citizens and legal immigrants alike, and they’re tired of getting no response from Washington. They want a common-sense approach to law enforcement, such as actually enforcing the law. If Obama won’t do it, they will.
The AZ immigration law is only getting more popular, not less. It’s making Obama look more and more like an ivory-tower elitist and less every day like someone who understands the problems of people in the country he leads. With numbers like these, don’t expect a push on amnesty any time soon, or perhaps ever. This appears to have become a big game-changer.

Immigrant rights groups on Monday demanded that President Obama impose a full moratorium on deportations of illegal immigrants, arguing that his policies have been worse for their cause than those of his Republican predecessor.
Saying they’ve been "betrayed" by and lost patience with Mr. Obama, the advocates suggested that the president could regain their support by leading a fight on Capitol Hill for a bill to legalize illegal immigrants. Mr. Obama took the first step toward legalization during a meeting Monday at the White House with two lawmakers working on a bill.
But a bill could take months to pass. In the meantime, the immigrant rights groups say, Mr. Obama must end deportations altogether.
"We demand an immediate stop to all deportations, because each one of these deportations, each one of these numbers, equals a life destroyed and a family devastated," Angelica Sala, executive director of the Coalition for Human Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles, said at a news conference in Washington

Juan Campos, 28, charged with the death of Alejandro Alvarez, 37, of Monterrey, Mexico, claims he is a legal U.S. citizen residing in the Texas-Mexico border town. However, according to Associated Press reports, the U.S. Consulate has not been able to confirm his status.
"We are looking into the incident in terms of whether American citizens were involved," a representative said.

The driver was intoxicated and became sleepy before plowing into riders in the third annual Matamoros-Playa Bagdad Bike Tour, police said. The car collided with bicyclists on a highway at 8:30 a.m., only 15 minutes after the 34-kilometer race began Sunday.
Alvarez, suffering injuries to his skull and body, died at the location of the crash.
